Understand the Products Your Customer Buys

Now you have a list of the products that people in your market niche are already buying. You know that if they're buying them from someone else, they will probably buy them from you, too. They have a reason to buy from you instead of the other sellers: it's your Unique Selling Proposition that you wrote when you were looking at your competition earlier.

The fact is, you are beginning to have a set of powerful reasons for people to buy from you, including these:

• You've chosen a narrow market niche where you can talk the language of and meet the needs of people with a specific problem.
• You know some ways to reach the people in your market niche so you can get your message to them.
• You have created a way to distinguish yourself in the minds of your customers.
• You know what they accept as solutions to their problem which means you can sell those solutions to them.

There's more you can do with the list of products or solutions you have compiled. For instance, you can find other problems your niche has so you can help them by selling them more solutions. That way, your business will make more money.

Your 20 Minute Task

Take out your list of products. Look it over. What categories do the products fit in? Are some of them medicines, for example? Are some of them travel options? Are some of them spare parts?

Write down the categories and put the various products under the categories. Then ask yourself, "Why are there these different kinds of products? What problem does each one solve?" Make notes on the same paper or spreadsheet.
