Opportunities to Make Money

Earlier, you learned that there are four basic ways to make money from the web: advertising, affiliate programs, subscriptions and the direct sale of products. You made lists of products and you made lists of topics for your web site.

Now it's time to use the information to see exactly some of the ways you can make money. You'll do that by matching the list of products with the list of topics.

Your 20 Minute Task

Take out your list of topics and categories as well as your list of products.

Look over both lists. Which products go with which topics?

Let's take an example. Suppose your target niche is people who have trouble sleeping. You might have topic categories such as sleeping pills, mattresses, bedtime routines, and sleep doctors.

As you look at your list of products, you notice two brands of sleeping pills, three different mattresses and a referral to a sleep clinic. You write the names of the sleeping pill products next to the sleeping pill topic category, the mattress products next to the mattress topic, and the clinic next to the sleep doctor topic. As it turns out, you don't have any products for the bedtime routines. That's all right, it may mean you can create a product of your own. You'll learn how to do that later on.

Go ahead and write the names of the products that fit each topic or category next to them on the sheet of paper that lists the topics.

Here's a secret: you can use the content to sell those products, or ones like them, to your visitors.
